The 411

Timothy D. Stickney grew up with his four siblings in Wilmington, DE. His mother, Bell, was a housewife while his father, Felix, was a fund-raiser for the YMCA. Although his parents had hoped little Timothy would grow up to be a lawyer or a doctor, Stickney knew at a young age that he wanted to be an actor.

After he finished high school in 1983, Stickney attended New York's prestigious American Academy of Dramatic Arts, and upon graduating, decided to stay in the city to pursue acting work. After a few months of part-time work doing phone research at a publishing firm, Stickney landed a role with the National Shakespeare Company as Tybalt in Romeo and Juliet. The actor went on to tour with the company for three years, appearing in the New York Shakespeare Festival productions of The Taming of the Shrew and Henry IV, Parts 1 and 2.

In addition to his Shakespearean theater credits, Stickney performed in 1969 and the 20-minute play Stones and Bones. Stickney was also a Teaching Artist at New York City's Theatre For A New Audience in 1990. In March 2002, he played the title role in Othello with the Africa Arts Theatre in Manhattan.

Stickney has also appeared in a number of films, including King of New York and Three of Hearts.

Stickney originated the role of Randall James “R.J.” Gannon in August 1994. His portrayal earned him a Soap Opera Digest Award for Outstanding Villain in 2000.
