Melissa Archer had only one major acting credit to her name when she joined ONE LIFE TO LIVE in 2001, but handled being thrown into a front-burner story (when Natalie was revealed as Viki's daughter) with aplomb. The Texas native won over the audience with her sassy portrayal of Natalie and eventually nabbed Soap Opera Digest Awards for Outstanding Newcomer in 2003 and Favorite Triangle (along with Michael Easton, John, and Renee Elise Goldsberry, ex-Evangeline) in 2005.
Archer became interested in performing as a child living in Dallas, where she took dancing classes. She landed a role on the children's series WISHBONE in 1995 when she was still in high school. She caught the acting bug and decided to try her luck in Los Angeles. Her parents, however, insisted that she attend college, so Archer also studied psychology at California's Union Institute. In fact, she still likes to use what she learned to analyze her complex character. In the spring of 2005, just as Archer's storyline was heating up, her contract expired. But to the relief of the many John/Natalie aka "Jolie" fans, the actress decided to stay in Llanview.
Off-screen, Archer enjoys singing karaoke and doing logic puzzles, and is a huge lover of animals, especially cats (she has two).

Memorable Quotes
"I don't know if it's coming from Texas or if it's coming from my particular family or whatever, but it's like a 'You can't get too big for your britches' kinda thing, ya know? Everybody at home is always gonna bring you back to Earth if you start getting too high on yourself [laughs]. But it always makes you remember where you came from and what you started with, so that you appreciate what you get." — Soap Opera Digest, 2/1/05
"I'll do [OLTL] for as long as it's good for me. As long as it's positive for my career. If you'd asked me five years ago, 'Would you be on a soap?' I'd have said no. But I like it. I could stay here awhile." — Digest, 1/15/02
