THE 411
Born Marie Flevaras (the oldest of three girls) in Athens, Greece, and raised mostly in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Marie Wilson began modeling in high school, after which she moved to L.A. The extensive modeling career eventually led to doing "tons" of commercials and then to acting. She had been serious about it for two years when she got her first daytime job as the third recast of GENERAL HOSPITAL/PORT CHARLES's Karen Wexler after just one other acting gig: playing Mary Bono in AND THE BEAT GOES ON: THE SONNY AND CHER STORY. Her PC doc was killed while fleeing a vampire in 2003 (not long before the show was canceled), and two years later, she auditioned for ATWT's spunky farm girl Meg Snyder (last played by Jennifer Ashe 15 years earlier), assuming she wouldn't get it. She did, of course, and now the L.A.-based actress commutes between her permanent West Coast home with husband Michael and daughter Skye and her job at ATWT's Brooklyn studios.
ET CETERA
—Once shortened her last name to Varas, and jokes that she married her husband for his easy-to-pronounce moniker
—Avid hockey fan; her favorite team is (of course) the Toronto Maple Leafs
—When she moved to L.A., she only knew one person: Réal Andrews (ex-Walker, ATWT; ex-Taggert, GH), from her modeling days.

MEMORABLE QUOTES
"I wouldn't lie because I'm so bad at it. I stutter, and I can't think quickly enough to fake an answer. That's my downfall — or my upside, depending on how you look at it." — Soap Opera Digest, 11/7/00
"The commute is going ... and going and going and going. I have a lot of frequent-flyer miles — I have two round trips around the world. You eat the sodium-based food, watch a movie and flip out because the seats are getting smaller and smaller. But other than that, it's great." — Soap Opera Weekly, 7/12/05
