THE 411

Marcy Rylan grew up in rural Pennsylvania, where she pursued her first love — dance — from an early age. "My mom put me in ballet shoes as soon as I could stand up, and I started doing commercial and print modeling when I was in junior high," she recalled to Soap Opera Weekly.

Shortly after her high school graduation, Rylan moved to New York City to pursue acting. She completed a two-year acting program at the William Esper Studio while working at GUIDING LIGHT. Rylan currently balances her job at GL with her schoolwork as a part-time college student with a major in sociology.

Before appearing on GL, Rylan guest-starred on Nickelodeon's hit television show DRAKE & JOSH, and she also appeared in several national network commercials, including spots for Cinnamon Toast Crunch and Trojan condoms.

"When I walk out the door, I look clean. You have no idea what my house looks like, but every time I open my front door it has a different funky smell." — Soap Opera Weekly, 8/15/06

"The second I left high school, I moved to New York. Total culture shock. I learned quickly that you don't say good morning to people you're passing in the street." — Weekly, 3/26/06

"I waited tables at a bar for two days, and the manager was so mean. The best part is that when I quit, he told me that if I didn't have what it took to handle the job, I would never make it in the entertainment industry." — Weekly, 12/5/06

"I have to keep a folder of the dates that I'm on [GL] so my mom can watch them all. It's very cute, but she says, ‘If there's anything sexy, tell me ‘cause I don't want to watch it!'" — Soap Opera Digest, 8/8/06

"She loves GUIDING LIGHT, although she was very upset that I turned Lizzie into a whore." — on pal Hayden Panettiere (ex-Lizzie), Digest, 11/28/06
