The 411
Lauralee Bell was born and raised in Chicago. The daughter of William J. Bell and Lee Phillip Bell, Lauralee and her older brothers, Bill, Jr., and Bradley, moved to Los Angeles after her parents created Y&R, which first aired on CBS on March 26, 1973. Lauralee began her acting career as an extra on the show at age 9. As a teenager, she was hired to originate the role of teen model Cricket Blair in 1983. Lauralee was bitten by the show-biz bug early: Her father had helped create ANOTHER WORLD with soap legend Irna Phillips in 1964; her mother, Lee, hosted the popular Chicago morning program THE LEE PHILLIP SHOW. Having overcome charges of nepotism during her daytime debut, Bell established herself as a popular, long-time presence on Y&R. As an adult, she branched out into the business world and co-owns a trendy boutique in L.A. called On Beverly Boulevard. Bell won a Young Artist Award as Y&R's Cricket in 1989 and won a SOAP OPERA DIGEST Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in 1999. In 2002, Bell and her career were the subject of Lifetime's INTIMATE PORTRAIT.

Memorable Quotes
"I get letters from teenage girls saying, 'The other day, my boyfriend made me decide whether I was going to sleep with him, but I said no because I thought of you and Danny. If it weren't for you, I would have been pregnant today.' Those are the letters that I love." —Soap Opera Digest, 11/3/87
"My dad is the one who thinks up all the sex [on Y&R], so he has to be pretty open-minded." —Digest, 5/7/96
"This sounds silly, but my mom's [morning show] was on opposite Bozo [laughs]. If I had been over 15, I would have appreciated it, but with me, she lost out to Bozo." —Digest, 5/13/02
