The 411

After attending Modesto Junior College and California State University, Fresno, Kim Johnson Ulrich graduated from CSU Stanislaus in Turlock, CA, as an art major with intentions of becoming an interior designer. On the side, she did makeup at a local theater. That's where she met Robert Ulrich. The lovebirds wed in January 1981, then moved to New York so they could both pursue acting. She did commercial-print modeling and took acting classes. After getting her SAG card, the actress auditioned for the role of Delila on ONE LIFE TO LIVE. Though she didn't land the gig, the soap used her for a small part. In 1983, Ulrich got her first contract role when she was hired as the wealthy and glamorous Diana McColl on AS THE WORLD TURNS. She left the CBS sudser two years later and appeared in several TV movies and prime-time series. During that time, she gave birth to Cooper. In 1999, she returned to daytime in the role of another rich, fashionable woman: PASSIONS's Ivy Winthrop Crane. The Ulriches welcomed Tierney Joy in 2001, when they adopted the baby girl from China.
