The 411

Born in New York City, Kathleen Noone began her career as a singer in nightclubs and performed in musicals while attending Ithaca College, then West Virginia University. She received her M.F.A. from Southern Methodist University.

After performing for 13 years in numerous repertory, regional and off-Broadway theaters, Noone landed roles on AS THE WORLD TURNS and ONE LIFE TO LIVE. She then settled in ALL MY CHILDREN's Pine Valley, where she played Ellen for more than 11 years before moving to Los Angeles to try her luck in prime-time. She made several guest appearances on nighttime series before snagging the role of Claudia on KNOTS LANDING, which she portrayed for nearly three years.

Next, Noone took her aim at comedy and hit it big, guesting as Patrice on FRASIER, as well as a plethora of funny characters on several sitcoms. She then dabbled in television movies.

In 1997, Noone headed back to daytime with the memorable role of SUNSET BEACH's Bette. However, the show was canceled in 1999. In 2002, she joined PASSIONS, the sudser that replaced BEACH. Noone played down her beauty (way down!) with minimal makeup and a gray wig while portraying wacky Edna.

In her spare time, the actress provides emotional coaching for those coping with the highs and lows of the entertainment business.

Et Cetera

—Holds master's degrees in spiritual psychology and fine arts.
— Won a Daytime Emmy in 1987 for Outstanding Supporting Actress as ALL MY CHILDREN's Ellen. She was nominated for an Emmy in 1999 in the same category as SUNSET BEACH's Bette. She also has six Soap Opera Digest Award noms.
—Noone's father, Jim O'Meara, was a Brooklyn Dodger (center field, 1926-1928).

Memorable Quotes

"For an actor, security comes from your pocketbook. But continuity comes from your heart, and that's really what working on AMC is about." — Soap Opera Digest, 3/8/88

"I was thrilled beyond belief. I can remember bolting out of my chair like Rocky, then proceeding to go up the steps and losing my shoe. My knees were shaking so much that I couldn't get my shoe on because I had nothing to hold onto. If Jean LeClerc [ex-Jeremy, AMC] hadn't come over to me from the podium, I'd still be there." — on winning her Daytime Emmy in 1987, Digest, 5/20/97
