The 411
A veteran of six soaps, Catherine Hickland became addicted to the genre as a child when her babysitter would watch them. Later, while attending Fort Lauderdale High School, the Florida native took theater classes and became a self-described "drama nerd." After graduating, she majored in physical education at Florida Atlantic University, then pursued acting, landing many prime-time guest spots, including stints as David's (Grant Goodeve) girlfriend on EIGHT IS ENOUGH, Dan's (Robert Urich) sister on VEGA$ and a turn as Stevie Mason on KNIGHT RIDER. Hickland's first daytime role was on the ANOTHER WORLD spin-off TEXAS (she actually began on AW for a few weeks); a couple of years later, she starred on CAPITOL. After divorcing Hasselhoff, however, Hickland took some time off from acting and spent nearly three years "starting over" and studying Italian in Rome. She met Knight when she returned to the United States, then made another go at daytime, starring on LOVING/THE CITY. When THE CITY ended in 1997, Hickland again took her life in a different direction, this time taking voice lessons and performing in Les Misérables on Broadway.
In addition to acting, Hickland runs a cosmetics company (www.catcosmetics.com), which she launched in 2001. Her beauty column "Product Queen" runs monthly in Soap Opera Digest. She is also active in helping animals.

Memorable Quotes
"Deep down, I knew right away that Michael was the one. I've never known anybody like him. He's so easy to live with and hysterically funny." — Soap Opera Digest, 11/23/93
"What can be wrong? I just ate a steak. I have a great gig. I have a fabulous husband. I have unbelievable friends. I have a roof over my head. I am just really happy." — Digest, 8/18/98
"[Lindsay] is the most unlikely thing I've ever played. And it's the most fun. Whenever you play someone who is that crazy, first if all, you have nothing to draw from because as far as I know, I've never been that crazy. I mean, I'm crazy, but I'm not insane." — Digest, 8/19/04
