Tabitha and Kay tried to use magic to rescue Endora and Miguel from the
demons that kidnapped them, only to find they had disappeared from Tabitha's
basement — and quite possibly this dimension — entirely. The two witches decided to use "Boogle," the dark side's version of a "certain search engine which cannot be named due to pending legal issues," to search both Earth and the Other Side for their missing loved ones. When their search failed to produce a hit in dimensions one through six, Kay suggested that Tabitha use her love for Endora to try to locate her whereabouts. When that too failed, Kay tried to use the same tactic to find Miguel, only to get "deep-space
static." The two eventually allowed themselves to consider the fact they may
have lost Endora and Miguel forever.
After a night together at the Crane mansion, Fox confessed to Esme that she
was "the one" for him, despite her having slept with "a galaxy of rock stars, football players and a few curious gay men." However, their post-coital bliss was soon shattered by a bullet shot through the bedroom window. Fox, hit in the chest, collapsed to the floor while a horrified Esme rushed to his side. Having heard Esme's screams, Julian ran into the room and tried to keep his son alive while Esme called for help. A distraught Vicki walked in on the scene just as Julian declared Fox dead. Julian and Esme mourned the loss of Fox together and he assured her that she and Vicki could stay at the Crane mansion as long as they needed.
A calendar that appeared in a video of Marty assured Spike and Sheridan that
he was still alive and gave Sheridan even more fuel to reunite with Luis in
a search for their missing son. When Spike made to leave, Sheridan pulled a
gun on him and demanded to know where Marty was being kept. Spike insisted
on his "whore of a mother's grave" that he had no idea what Alistair had
done with Marty. Sheridan eventually relented, but assured Spike that
Alistair would not "live to see the sun rise" for having done this to her
son. As Sheridan continued musing about her picket-fence-enclosed future
with Luis and Marty, Spike became more and more convinced that she was not
playing with a full deck of cards.
Fancy's implant, courtesy of Alistair, led to a terrible nosebleed and to
her eventually passing out on her bedroom floor in front of a concerned
Luis. Watching footage of what was going on from his lair, Alistair grew
worried that should Luis call for medical help the implanted device would
be discovered, so he gave Pretty a two-way transmitter and instructions to
keep Luis from taking Fancy to a hospital. As Pretty faked a 911 call, Fancy awoke and insisted she didn't want any doctors. Luis maintained that she
needed medical help and insisted on taking her to a hospital. Alistair, not liking at all where this situation was headed, ordered Pretty to keep doctors from seeing Fancy and declared that, if he had to, he would kill Luis and Fancy both before the device could be discovered and his plans foiled. Luis eventually decided, upon Pretty and Fancy's insistence, not to take her to the hospital, but made her lie down in order to recover from her fainting spell. Still in his lair, Alistair fiddled with the control to the implanted device, causing poor, confused Fancy to twitch uncontrollably.
Ethan awoke from his coma, thrilled with the news that he had a son. When he
asked to see "his boy," Gwen entered the hospital room with a baby she
claimed was her son with Ethan! A dumbstruck Pilar and Theresa looked on,
not fully believing that Gwen, who had been presumed barren, could really
have given birth. When questioned by Ethan, Gwen explained that she chose
this moment, after his wedding, to tell him because she hadn't wanted him to
think that she was trying to break him and Theresa up. The ability to gloat in front of Theresa — and lessen the impact of the news that she and
Ethan had their own son together — had probably not even crossed her mind.
(Wink, nudge.) Pilar took Theresa aside and insisted she tell Ethan straight
away that he was also Little Ethan's father, despite the fact that Gwen had
just stolen her thunder. In true Theresa fashion, she announced her intention
to tell Ethan her secret several more times, but still failed to actually
say the words.

At the Crane mansion, Fancy's nosebleeds, caused by the device Alistair had ordered implanted up her nose, continued to grow worse and prompted a very concerned Luis to take her to the hospital, much to Alistair's frustration. When Luis moved forward to pick her up and carry her downstairs, Fancy lashed out at him — proof that the implant was finally working. Watching all this on a monitor in Alistair's lair, Pretty insisted that her grandfather stop hurting Fancy and, positive now that Alistair didn't really love her as he had professed, declared that she was going to tell Luis and Fancy all about Alistair's plans to keep the two apart. However, Alistair was once again able to convince a highly gullible Pretty that she was, indeed, his favorite and that he loved her very much — despite the fact that he was referring to her as a "hideous gargoyle" in his head. Back upstairs, Fancy apologized to Luis for having lost her temper, only to start twitching again as she tried to fight off the urge to slap Luis silly. Eventually, her Mr. Hyde side won out and she slapped poor Luis as he called for an ambulance.
At the hospital, Theresa insisted that while Gwen may also have Ethan's child, she would never have Ethan, and vowed yet again to tell him that Little Ethan was his son, too...but only after he had been given time to bond with his infant son. A delighted Ethan invited Theresa to hold his and Gwen's baby, much to Gwen's chagrin, and expressed a desire to have Little Ethan meet the baby. Seeing that it was now or never, Theresa decided to bring Little Ethan in and tell Ethan everything, but Gwen, worried that this would ruin her own plan to get Ethan back with the news that they finally had a child together, insisted that she not bring Little Ethan in to meet the baby because he would be "germy" from playing with other children in the hospital playroom. Ethan and Theresa, however, insisted it would be okay. As Theresa and Pilar made to leave the room and retrieve Little Ethan, Ethan Sr. asked them who else knew about the baby. When Gwen said the only other person who knew was her mother, and that she had only told her earlier that very night, Ethan confessed to being confused as to how, then, Theresa and Pilar could have known that he had a son. After a lot of stalling, she announced yet again that she would tell him everything and sent Pilar to get Little Ethan.
Ivy and Sam returned from a walk around the Crane grounds and reiterated their newfound commitment to one another. Ivy added that she always had and always would love Sam. The discussion turned to their children, with Sam asking Ivy why she hated Kay. She insisted she didn't feel any ill will towards Kay at all, but she had merely felt she hadn't been right for Fox. She hoped her son would be able to find his soul mate now that he and Kay were divorcing. Right on cue, the sounds of sobbing interrupted their conversation. They entered the foyer only to find out from Julian and Esme that Fox had been killed. A frantic Ivy refused to believe her son had died. It wasn't until she unzipped his body bag and came face-to-face with the corpse that she realized Fox was truly dead and finally broke down sobbing in Julian's arms. Sam interrogated Esme about the occurrences of that night, after which Ivy told her she was glad her son hadn't been alone at the time of his death. Esme was extremely grateful and went up to go check on Vicky, leaving Julian and Ivy to commiserate together over the loss of their son. They admitted that they hadn't been the best of parents to Fox, the realization of which drove an inconsolable Ivy to cling to her ex-husband, the sight of which pained Sam. A forensics team showed up at the mansion to look for clues as to who could have possibly murdered Fox. Sam took Esme aside once more to ask her a few more questions. He expressed disbelief that someone could have shot Fox through the bedroom window, seeing how it was on the second floor. Clearly, Esme had become the prime suspect in Fox's murder.

Eve came home to her empty house and commented out loud on how lonely she felt and also on how worried she was that she was talking to herself, alone, in a (presumably) empty house. Vincent, hiding in another room, overheard her. "There is nothing so bad that booze can't make worse," she told herself to keep from falling back on bad habits and decided to take a warm bath instead. Vincent took advantage of her having left the room to set a bottle of pills next to the Scotch. A thoroughly confused Eve then got a phone call from Vincent, who pretended to be in trouble and in need of her help. He said he didn't think his mother really loved him and hung up before telling her where he was, which prompted Eve to break down crying and turn to the booze after all.
Watching a video still of her missing son from her laptop, Sheridan made a promise to Marty that she'd find him and would get Fancy out of the way so that she, Marty and Luis could all be a happy family once again. She went to confront Alistair about the situation and to try to get him to tell her where he was keeping Marty, but he accused her of being drunk and told her that Marty had been "burnt to a crisp." Sheridan seemed to back down and accept this, but kept shifting her sight to the laptop, which led her father to grow suspicious about how much Sheridan really knew.
The implant began to take effect and Fancy began to act like a true Crane: selfish, violent and elitist. Down in their lair, Alistair and Pretty had a good chuckle over this "new" Fancy and her treatment of Luis, which included her accusing him of being obsessed with Sheridan. Pretty then urged Alistair to give her a chance to cause Fancy pain and exact revenge for the scar she gave her. Luis, however, forgave Fancy for her outburst and apologized for acting so pushy and "like a caveman" when it came to insisting on taking her to a hospital, which led Fancy to agree to go after all. However, Pretty showed up and advised her sister not to go, pointing to her scar as evidence that, sometimes, doctors can offer no help at all.
At the hospital, Pilar brought Little Ethan in to see Ethan recovered and to meet the new baby. Seeing them interact, Theresa had second thoughts about telling Ethan that Little Ethan is his son and ruining the relationship the two already have. Little Ethan pointed out the baby's resemblance to his own baby pictures and Ethan agreed and admitted this to be a little strange. Theresa finally (finally!) confessed that the reason Little Ethan and the baby looked like brothers is because they ARE brothers.

Eve tried to trace Vincent's call, only to reach nothing but dead ends. She soaked her guilt in Scotch and the pills Vincent had left out for her. Eventually, she passed out on her living room couch, only to awaken to Vincent calling to her. A strangely translucent apparition of Vincent appeared, asking Eve why she had never loved him and why she had given up on searching for him. He disappeared when she tried to hug him, and Eve fell to the floor sobbing as Vincent watched from behind a curtain.
Over at the Crane mansion, Fancy and Luis came downstairs and were told about Fox's murder. Esme admitted to Fancy that she had — or thought she had — loved Fox, and had even planned a future with him. Sam stood firm regarding his accusation of Esme, although Fancy came to her defense, claiming that Esme didn't have it in her to act violently. Sam brought up an instance where Esme had chased Fancy and Noah down with a gun, which deflated Fancy's argument. Thinking back on several of Esme's previous "incidents," Ivy began to question Esme's innocence, but Julian remained doubtful. His guess? That Kay and Miguel had murdered Fox. This prompted more than a little bit of animosity with Sam and Luis, especially when Julian and Ivy pointed out that, as a Crane widow, Kay would be due a large sum of money.
Alistair looked over at Sheridan's laptop and demanded to know who had given her access to the images on it, only to reveal to viewers that the images on the screen were not of Marty, but video footage of Fancy's room. Alistair accused Sheridan of being a voyeur and told her that Luis was lost to her forever. Sheridan did not back down from her insistence that Marty was alive, saying that, "You never accept a fact without proof." She then demanded to see Marty's grave as proof he had died in the explosion. When Alistair refused and, instead, continued to make bitter, hurtful remarks about Marty's death, Sheridan took it upon herself to act as "God's avenging angel" and pulled a kitchen knife on him.
At the hospital, Ethan learned from Theresa that Little Ethan and Gwen's baby are brothers. Gwen interjected, telling Ethan that Theresa had meant this metaphorically and asked him to name the baby. She stressed that, even when divorced, parents should always have a link to one another through their child. When she expressed disappointment at not being able to name the new baby Ethan because Little Ethan already had the name, Little Ethan grew worried at possibly having to give up his name and said he wished Ethan were his real father. Ethan assured him that, for all intents and purposes, he was Little Ethan's dad, but that, secretly, he wished this was really true, too. Once Little Ethan was out of the room, Theresa insisted, once again, that Ethan really, truly was the father of Little Ethan.
