Jared was wheeled out of surgery and the nurse said he was doing better and that he was mumbling for Tess. While Theresa sat with him in his cubicle, Ethan cornered Whitney for the truth. "Help me protect her," he said, but Whit insisted he go to Theresa. Instead, he eavesdropped outside Jared's cubicle. A woozy Jared suspected he was shot by a woman, because the shooter had on red heels. His voice was weak, so it wasn't clear if Ethan heard him tell Theresa, "I wanted to help you stop that person from scaring you." When Theresa came out, Ethan begged her to let him help her, but before he could win her over, the blackmailer called her. "Don't tell him!" he/she ordered. After more threats, Theresa hung up and told Ethan, "Nothing in my life concerns you." She also noted that he was wearing his wedding ring before storming off. Ethan was sure it changed everything when he was served with divorce papers. Theresa, meanwhile, went back to Jared's bedside. Vincent showed up and told her that the blackmailer had contacted him. They knew he was on the case and wanted to meet with Theresa. He urged her not to go, especially after their strange request. "They said not only were you to show up alone, but that you weren't to send anyone in your place, and if you did...you and little Ethan's father would be at serious risk." Theresa was set on going.

Chad was glad he ended his gay affair before Whit caught on, but somewhere else his lover was watching a DVD of one of their sessions. When Chad met Whitney at the hospital, she worried over Jared's shooter. "I thought all of our bad times are over once we got back from Rome," she sighed. They empathized with both Theresa's and Ethan's positions. Then she brought up the gay debate and again slammed Chad's backward notion that gay people don't love each other the way straight people do. When talk turned back to Theresa's blackmailer, Whitney worried, "God only knows what they could do to Theresa this time," but Chad maintained, "They just enjoy pulling her strings." He got her to go home with him and she said she wanted to hang out with their sitter, Gram. When Gram arrived, he was with his boyfriend. He also recognized Chad. "I just can't place where," he said. When he pushed it, Chad was so curt with him it embarrassed Whitney. After they left, Chad said, "My kid's best friend is not going to be the son of two daddies." Whitney asked after his sudden hostility to homosexuals and Chad flashed back to his time at a gay bar.

Luis was less sure of Sheridan's innocence when he and Fancy found she wasn't at her cottage. She was in the car, remembering romantic times and turning the radio up with scratched up arms. She was surprised to find everyone waiting for her and explained she went to get James cough syrup. No one seemed to buy her excuse, but then James woke up, came in and coughed. Fancy wasn't convinced and made that clear after Sheridan put James to bed. Sheridan seemed genuinely concerned when she heard that her niece was attacked again, but then Fancy pointed to her high heels and she realized her niece was accusing her. When Fancy asked to see if her arms were scratched, Sheridan moved away. "There is no way in hell that I am going to subject myself to the paranoid ravings of someone in the throws of a nervous breakdown," she said, and refused to show her arms. Luis backed down (which was so typical), and Sheridan feigned empathy. Fancy stormed out and then Chris went to check on James, leaving Luis and Sheridan alone. She told Luis that years ago Pretty, who had an "unstable" reputation, got in trouble and that she'd always suspected Fancy was the guilty party. Chris, meanwhile, found a full bottle of cough syrup in the medicine cabinet. Before leaving, Luis talked about taking Fancy for a getaway to the new inn and then, outside, when Fancy pushed him, he admitted he didn't believe her and suggested that getaway. She agreed, but insisted she'd still suspect Sheridan. When Sheridan undressed, Chris spied the scratches on her arms.

Jessica was feeling sorry for herself at the wharf when the stalker cornered her. "I love you, Jessica," he/she said, and Jess screamed. Simone raced to help with Noah and Paloma in tow, but Jessica was gone, so Simone had to tell Noah she'd found Jess with a john earlier. They decided to "fan out and find Jessica before it's too late," which made the eavesdropping stalker chuckle that it already was. "Oh, Jess, you'll never be the same by the time I'm finished with you," he/she said. When the crew couldn't find Jessica, Paloma wondered if she'd jumped to her death, but then they heard running feet and followed. They found Jessica stumbling and babbling that it was a "man, woman, man..." Then Jessica marveled over her shiny red shoes, which a curious Simone recognized as new. Noah was worried his sister was overdosing and they rushed her to the hospital.

Eve warned that Fox's treatment would have trying side effects, including but not limited to impotence. When she said it wasn't a sure thing that the treatment would work, Fox decided impotence wasn't a reasonable risk. Julian tried to talk him down and ultimately, there was no argument a "dying" Fox could offer. After Eve was called away, Kay insisted they had love, which is "all we need." She urged him to have faith. She said she was hoping for a miracle and when he wasn't receptive, begged him to at least fight to stay alive long enough for Maria to remember him. After promising they'd get through it together, she left to take Maria home. That left Julian and Fox to discuss this "very interesting predicament." Julian was sure it was workable, but Fox demanded, "What is the point of having a wife if I'm a bald, impotent, sick little eunuch?" Their plotting was interrupted when Kay returned. Miguel had been waiting for her outside, sure that Fox's fear of impotence would prove he was lying. Kay had been so disgusted by Migs that she'd decided to spend the night with Fox and sent Miguel home with Maria. Fox wasn't as excited to hear she was staying with him as she'd expected, so Kay asked Julian to give them some time and then crawled into the hospital bed to cuddle.

Sheridan tried to make sense of Fancy and Luis' claim that there was a woman involved in Fancy's rape. "Could it be a team?" she wondered, and Luis and Fancy jumped on the idea. Their theorizing was interrupted when Theresa called Luis, begging him to meet her and an unconscious Jared at the hospital. The girls wanted to follow, but Luis insisted it was police business. Sheridan didn't hesitate to remind him he'd been suspended, but was she was ultimately left behind. Fancy and Luis found Theresa just after Doc Russell got started on Jared. Whitney and Ethan arrived soon after. They questioned Theresa, but she said didn't know anything. When Whitney wondered if it had to do with what Jared was investigating, Ethan didn't miss a beat. Theresa refused to give any info, even after Luis pressed her. Not even Whit could convince her to talk to them. Eve interrupted with news that Jared's condition was touch and go, and then dashed off to prepare for his surgery. Whitney worried Theresa would be shot next, but Theresa figured the shooting was a warning from the blackmailer to keep quiet and that's just what she planned to do. Fancy, meanwhile, went to her car to get witness forms and was grabbed by a masked person. This time, she fought back, scratching him/her before he/she got away. When Luis came, suspicious Fancy insisted they go see if Sheridan was in her cottage. Luis couldn't believe his ex could be their attacker, but Fancy insisted he follow her gut and he agreed. When they got to the cottage, Sheridan wasn't there!

An angry Sheridan bristled at Fancy's speculation/accusation that she was Fancy and Luis's attacker. When Luis arrived Fancy relayed her accusation to a disbelieving Luis. Willing to humor Fancy, Luis asked her what motive Sheridan would have. Fancy said Sheridan is trying to break them up so Sheridan can have Luis again. Luis became confused and dumbfounded as Sheridan insisted she loves Chris and James and the family and life she has for herself now. Fancy accused Sheridan of being an evil predator. Sheridan insisted she's been supportive of Fancy's relationship with Luis since day one. Luis found himself in the middle. He suggested that maybe post-traumatic stress disorder is causing Fancy's delusions. Sheridan asked her point blank if she really thought Sheridan were capable of such things. Upon reflection, Fancy backed down from her accusations, but said that somebody is obviously responsible for what's happened to them.

Theresa received a new online warning from the mysterious figure. She instant messaged him/her asking why he/she is doing this to her. The mystery person sent her an address ("Alley off Broad Street"), where they had left Jared for dead. "Someone you love is about to die — run, Theresa, run," the mysterious figure taunted. Before Theresa arrived the mystery person dropped a red-lipstick-coated cigarette butt, showed off red nail-polished nails, and red high heels. Theresa arrived on the scene and demanded that the mysterious figure come out and answer her questions. She tripped and fell over Jared's bloody body and screamed. Theresa called 911 on her cell and begged for Jared to hang on.

Spike refused to let Jessica tell Kay about spotting the fake Charity. He flashed back to his conversation with Julian, in which Julian instructed him not to tell. Spike came up with a series of excuses that finally convinced Jessica it's in her best interests not to tell Kay. When Jessica had a change of heart she went to find Kay but Spike pulled her back and slapped her across the face. "You're my wife — you'll do as I say!" Spike told her they're broke and need rent money, so she'll have to start prostituting again. Jessica reluctantly took up with a new john. Elsewhere on the wharf, Simone grieved for Rae: "I don't think I can go on without you. It's just too hard." Simone contemplated jumping off the pier, but stopped herself. She then observed Jessica struggling with her john and came to Jessica's rescue, beating up the john and sending him running. Simone revealed to Jessica that Rae is dead. She told Jessica to wake up and change and make the most of her life before it's too late. Simone washed her hands of Jessica and told her she's done with her. Meanwhile, the attacker approached Jessica from behind....

Kay doted on Fox in his hospital room and expressed her happiness at how well he's doing. Kay said she had never prayed so hard in her whole life. After examining him Eve was excited that Fox was recuperating so well from his injuries. Hearing the good news Fox prepared to get out of the hospital. Not so fast, Eve warned. Now that he's better from his injuries, he's now ready to begin treatment — for his "tumor"! Julian intervened and said he was planning to take Fox to Switzerland for his treatment. Eve insisted that Harmony Hospital is perfectly equipped for Fox's kind of treatment. As Fox worried about getting this unnecessary treatment, Kay returned with Maria for a visit. Eve returned to inform Fox that he's on the schedule to begin treatment tomorrow, and cautioned him and Kay of all the side effect he's likely to experience...especially IMPOTENCE! Outside Fox's room, Julian taunted Miguel with the prospect that Miguel will go to prison for life for hitting Fox with his car.

Sheridan slapped Fancy again, insisting she was "bad!" and that it was Fancy's fault Luis was in trouble. When she mentioned their "long history," Fancy rolled her eyes, but Sheridan insisted that just as she'd made Luis unhappy in their past lives, Fancy would in this life. When fed up Fancy turned away, Sheridan grabbed her and taunted her about what a poor girlfriend her post traumatic stress made her. "How can Luis love you if just being held freaks you out?" she snarled. She told her to leave Harmony, because the case against Luis would leave with her. When she broke free, she turned on Sheridan, calling her a "woman possessed." She was amazed by Sheridan's almost manly strength. Finally, she blurted out that her attacker may have been a woman and Sheridan was full of questions. "It would have to be a woman who hates the fact that Luis and I are together now," Fancy theorized. "A woman who wants to break us up, She would have to be strong...someone who could overpower me to do what she did to me. Oh my God, it's so obvious. The woman was you!" She was convinced, but Sheridan denied it — though not too convincingly.

A towel-clad Chad told his obscured lover that this was their last romp together. "I don't love you," he insisted as he dressed. "I told you from the start this was all about sex for me. What we had was amazing, but I'm not gay." He was sorry his lover had feelings for him and suggested he leave Harmony. His homophobia was clear.

Over at the office, Luis stormed in and to Ethan and Whitney's amazement, she again announced she'd re-accepted Jared's proposal. After Luis said congrats, Ethan assumed that was the news Theresa had been trying to share with him and left in defeat. Jared told Theresa he would find her blackmailer so they could live happily ever after, but that wasn't her plan. When he left, she showed Whitney the blackmailer's text message to stay with Jared or risk losing her Crane power. She planned on dumping Jared once her brother's names were cleared. "It's always 'later' with Ethan," she sighed. "Why can't I just be with him? Why does something always have to come between us?" Whitney wondered if Theresa should tell Ethan about Little E and ask him to keep quiet, but Theresa noted that the blackmailer seemed to know what she did almost before she'd done it. Whit then excused herself to go to the funeral home, where Simone was crying over her girlfriend's open coffin and saying her goodbyes. When Rae came back from beyond, she and Simone professed their love to each other and Rae told her to move on without her. She said she could see the life ahead for her girlfriend and it was a good one. She left Simone before Whitney showed up.

Out on the road, Jared called in a mysterious favor, asking someone to contact his/her dangerous "old friends" about Theresa's blackmailer. "I just signed a deal with the devil," he said when he hung up, but he was excited when he got a call back with a meet time. Too bad he was meeting the stalker! He asked for the memory stick, but was shot instead.

At Crane offices, meanwhile, Luis asked Ethan why Theresa was marrying someone else, but an overwhelmed Ethan preferred to talk biz. He was concerned that the evidence against Luis was too strong, which was exactly what convinced Luis he was being framed. Thanks to Theresa's money, Ethan had a huge team working the case. Talked turned back to Theresa and Luis noted that Whitney wasn't as surprised by the engagement as they were. When Ethan told him Whitney feared Theresa was "in over her head," they agreed they didn't like the sound of that. "Do you think we're being tested?" Ethan asked as Luis left. Luis hoped that if so, they passed the test and got to be with the women they love, Theresa and Fancy. Chad arrived shortly after and he and Ethan talked about Jared. Ethan maintained he was a "threat to Theresa's happiness," but Chad said there was nothing he could do about it. Ethan disagreed and even admitted he'd kill the guy to protect Theresa and the kids. They were interrupted by a call from Whitney, who wanted Chad's support at the funeral home. Chad got right over there, but only offended her by devaluing her sister's relationship with Rae. "They call them same-sex couples for a reason: It's all about sex," he explained, but Whitney said Simone and Rae were proof that he was wrong. He thought to himself that he couldn't be wrong, because that would make him gay.
